You're such a good mom...

My friend, Rachele, made my girls some cute Halloween bows so of course I bought them matching shirts. They wore the ensemble to school on Monday. As their teacher was commenting on how cute they looked in their shirts and bows, she exclaimed, "You're such a good mom!" I know she meant well but I was a little worried that at the same moment Seth's teacher was thinking, "She's such a bad mom" as he walked into the classroom in navy blue and orange track pants matched with a royal blue and red sleeveless Spiderman shirt and mismatched spiderman shoes on the wrong foot.

Does either really make me a good or bad mom? I try hard to make the girls look nice for school and they are kind enough to generally let me select what they wear. I guess that is being a good mom. I am also trying really hard to let Seth be independent and choose his own clothes. I usually control his independence by just offering him choices between a couple of shirts. On this particular morning he had taken an early shower and ran into his room and emerged fully dressed down to the shoes. He was so proud of himself I had to let him him wear it. I figure that's being a good mom to even if it means that Seth's teacher thinks otherwise.


This is one of the better outfits Seth picks out - at least it matches. I can't be overly worried about whether things fit or are inside out (and no, I would not let him leave the house in my clothes)
